In 1992, Mount Vernon hip-hop duo Pete Rock & CL Smooth released their debut album Mecca and the Soul Brother on now nonexistent Elektra Records. The first single off the album They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.), was inspired by the death of their close personal friend Troy Dixon (better known as " Trouble" T. Roy of Heavy D & the Boyz) in mid July 1990. The song did not garner initial success but has gone on to be a hip-hop classic and a personal favorite here at HypeTricity.
